Carmichael Residents Discover a Park Around every Corner!

Friday, September 24th, 2010

Carmichael homeowners and residents bat, pass, punt, kick, drive and dribble every kind of ball imaginable any day of the week in one of the nine developed parks within the city of Carmichael.  From nightly batting practice, to perfecting that soccer pass, families large and small congregate in neighborhood Carmichael parks day and night.  In the early 1900s, Dan Carmichael planned this community to give its residents access to a relaxing, park and recreation filled lifestyle.

Carmichael Park at the center of the city is the largest park and anchors all activities in and around Carmichael.  It offers residents 38 acres of manicured lawns, mature oak trees with plenty of  shade.  The band shell is a central focus  with performances from music to fireworks offered year round.  The clubhouse hosts meetings, wedding and receptions.  Sports lovers are drawn to the five ball fields, basketball courts, soccer field, six tennis courts, volleyball and horseshoe pits.  Families love the picnic shelter for large and small groups, barbecues and three playgrounds attract the little ones.  As you enter the park at Fair Oaks Blvd and Grant Ave notice the “Great Wall of Carmichael” with the artistic rendering of all things that make Carmichael great!

Around the corner on Engle Rd, the La Sierra Community Center draws residents for club meetings, weddings and reunions, summer and sports camps, adult basketball, volleyball leagues and is available to the community for meetings.    Del Campo Park, just north of Manzanita and Winding way, is a community park of over 20  developed acres with soccer field, playground, barbecues, nature area and restrooms.  The newest addition to Carmichael’s parks, opened in the summer of 2010 is the O’Donnell Heritage Park, at Charleston off Stollwood, includes basketball courts, playground equipment and a butterfly garden.  For a full listing and map of Carmichael’s parks go to www.carmichaaelpark.com

Carmichael residents also luxuriate in the spacious, Ancil Hoffman County Park just south of Fair Oaks Blvd.  This park offers 396 acres dotted with ancient oaks and is bordered on two sides by the American River. Activities include a top rated golf course, trails, picnic ground, Nature Center and reconstructed Maidu Indian Village.

Carmichael will be celebrating Dan Carmichael’s vision at the annual Founders Day Celebration coming Saturday, September 25, 2010. Admission is free. Come celebrate 101 Years of Community with a Classic Car show, Music and Entertainment, and a Kids Zone with mini Carnival, clowns, crafts and more at the cornerstone of Carmichael, the Carmichael Park.  While you are enjoying all the parks that Carmichael has to offer, consider relocating here and call us at the Tom Daves Team to see the current listings of homes for sale in the Carmichael area 916- 788-8838.
